The Gospel Blesses Families And Individuals

The message of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ blesses families. Because of the Restoration we understand God’s purpose for families: “The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally” (“The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102). On earth, family associations can be the source of some of our greatest joy. Satan is attacking the family on many fronts, and too many families are being destroyed by his efforts. The message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ makes it possible for families to be united now and in eternity. By living the principles of the gospel, families can experience peace, joy, and a sense of belonging and identity in this life. Through the light of the gospel, families can resolve misunderstandings, contentions, and cha...
Add title Humility Through His atoning sacrifice, Jesus Christ demonstrated divine humility and submission to the will of the Father. Developing humility in our own lives can help us to learn from and overcome our weaknesses. We can demonstrate trust in the Lord and confidence in His promises by obeying His commandments and humbly serving those around us. By becoming more meek and humble, we will invite the Spirit to be present in our lives and in our teaching. As you study this attribute, seek to recognize promptings from the Holy Ghost and make a plan to apply the principles you learn today. Prayerfully and regularly ask the following questions: What should I start doing to develop greater humility? What should I stop doing to develop greater humility? Use these additional resources to study more about the Christlike attribute of humility: Ezra Taft Benson,  “Beware of Pride,”   Ensign,  May 1989, 4–7 Dieter F. Uchtdorf,  “P...
Develop Christlike Attributes We can increase the influence of the Holy Ghost in our work To be an effective father, husband, mother, wife and child we must continue to increase the influence of the Holy Ghost in our work by more fully emulating the character of Jesus Christ and developing His attributes. Obedience Heavenly Father created a plan of happiness for His children. As part of this plan, He asks us to obey His commandments. Jesus Christ demonstrated this attribute throughout His life as He put aside His own will in order to do the will of the Father. If we follow Christ’s example and work to become more obedient in our own lives, we will receive promised blessings and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. While we may not always understand the reasons for certain commandments we are given, increased peace, knowledge, and freedom are promised to those who obey. As you ponder the Christlike attribute of obedience and make a plan to more fully develop it, the influence of the Holy Gho...
